My family has some really awesome health insurance, but it doesn’t cover eyeglasses. And after learning that my husband needed bifocals the price put us in a tizzy. There was no way around buying frames and the lenses that he needed, though. Then he learned that he’d need lenses that adjust from outdoors to indoors because he’d be wearing his glasses all the time. Oh, the cost! We wished we could win the lottery or at least get an unexpected check in the mail. More realistically, we wished we had some way to save money with vision insurance. I learned something during this time, my husband can be picky choosy. He must have looked at over 50 frames. Of course he chose the most expensive, but I couldn’t blame him. The frames needed to be comfortable. And I wanted him to look good. VSP Vision Care would have helped us save a lot of money, on average $320 per year. They cover:
Vision exams are so important. They can identify symptoms of vision and heath conditions. These include Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Diabetes, and Multiple Sclerosis. You want to catch problems to be proactive with an actual diagnosis. And this situation can save you money as well with less doctor visits to get a diagnosis and if possible finding a way to prevent the disease or control the prognosis. To learn how much money you can save with VSP, use their savings calculator. And before you enroll check if your employer offers VSP and check if you are eligible for insurance through an exchange or marketplace. Remember, with VSP you not only save money, you are keeping your vision health a priority. And there’s no way to measure the cost of that.
